Santa is coming to Hometown Christmas at City Hall Tuesday night and the Fruitland Park Volunteer Fire Department is preparing a bonfire to greet him!

Fruitland Park, Fla. — Fruitland Park will mark the Holiday Season with a 12-foot tall bonfire on the lawn in front of City Hall on Berckman St. on Tuesday, December 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Recreation Director Michelle Yoder said the city’s Volunteer Fire Department will supervise the bonfire at Hometown Christmas, the city’s annual event for children.

Yoder said she’s pretty sure Santa and Mrs. Claus will put in an appearance with prizes and goodies for the kids. Santa hasn’t called personally but the Claus PR machine people say it’s a definite can-do.

Yoder said the city will host a bounce house—with free admission for kids—along with a concession stand operated by the Fruitland Park Explorers and Girl Scouts Troop 4711 and entertainment by the Leesburg Dance Centre company, the Fruitland Park Elementary School Chorus and DJ Dru.

Admission to the event is free, everyone is invited and ample parking is available across Berckman St. in the Hertitage Community Church parking lot.

Police will be on hand to direct traffic, Yoder said.
