Fruitland Park — Lake County native Tanette Gayle, 27, has been appointed Fruitland Park’s chief financial officer and Treasurer.

Ms. Gayle, who graduated from Mount Dora High School in 2004, earned her B.S. Degree in Finance from Florida International University in Miami in 2010. She is currently pursuing an MBA Degree from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Her professional experience includes three years with Bank of America and more than four years in the Lake County Tax Collector’s office in Tavares, where she served as a Tax Specialist.

Ms. Gayle resides in Grand Island with her three-year old son.

Fruitland Park Mayor Chris Bell said Gayle is particularly suited for her job.

“Tanette Gayle is a talented accounting professional with a solid background in a range of subspecialties that we expect will serve the citizens of Fruitland Park very well,” Bell said.

She has her work cut out for her. On the night she was formally introduced and gave her first Treasurer’s Report, city commissioners approved a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding to support development of almost 2,000 new homes in the Villages of Fruitland Park.

If completed as planned in 2015, the project will double the Fruitland Park’s population—and double the city’s ad valorem tax revenues as well.

“This is an historic time for Fruitland Park and Tanette Gayle is just the sort of young, hard-working professional who can make her mark here,” Bell said.
